Meet Singleparent

Have you checked out Cereals at PNN? It's a cool site run by another lovely and talented Jaime who interviews pnn writers and other cool people.

I was lucky enough to snag a few minutes with Jaime to tell people about Singleparent and myself. The interview is available on her website, so check it out and tell me what you think!

You did an awesome job on the interview -- and Jaime is right that your pieces are useful to a very broad audience! Great writing, great insight, and great warmth = PNN magic! :)

I don't know how I stumbled upon your website, but I am a different person because of it. You are a courageous, dedicated, smart mother. I find strength and hope in your entries. I am not a single mom, but often feel like one because of the long hours my husband works. I am also a working mom, so while financially, I don't have to worry as much--or so you would think, I do understand the balance of trying to raise two girls, keep up the house, make appointments, do the shopping etc. I feel bad every time I think about the fact that I haven't been back to the OBGYN since my second was born. She's now three and a half. In spite of it all, I do make sure to quality time with them. Soon they'll be all grown up and they won't remember the missed doctor's appointments, the financial stress, or the fact that the house hadn't been vacuumed all week--but they will remember a mom who loved them. Bless you and your family. I am sending you good thoughts.

Thank you. I am touched and honored by your kind words. This is what I hoped for when I started this site - the ability to connect with other parents and touch their lives in some way. Wonderful thoughts to you and yours as well!

I like your column Yes, the cost of everything is skyrocketing. I live on a small budget too. When I moved into this rented apartment I live in, I splurged on a little paint, and decorated the walls with a glaze that you can purchase at home depot. It only cost me a hundred bucks to freshen up my room, with some paint, and everytime I look at the walls, I feel like I'm in a luxury apartment. It was a splurge, but well worth the feeling I get from it.

Welcome to my site! Oh how I wish my landlord allowed us to paint! My last house had the most perfect, soft, warm, peachy yellow that everyone complimented. I have to settle for white for now, but I'm trying to use lots of color in curtains and pillows and such.
