Getting a Life

Getting a Life

In my continued efforts to feel like more than just Aly and AJ's mom, I've been trying to "get a life" these days... so far, so good!

This past weekend I went to see a comedian whose political views I share, and I had the opportunity to mingle beforehand with similarly like-minded people. I felt like such a grown up! (Somehow my current events conversations with Aly just don't have the same effect.)

Next weekend I'm heading to a Battle of the Brews, a fundraiser for an Active 20-30 club. While I don't actually care for beer, my goal is to seek out other designated drivers and make fun of my and their friends together. (Note to self: do not carry on political conversations similar to last week - might not go over so well, and a drunken conservative might clock me.)

I'm trying to find another cooking class to attend next month - my kids loved the recipes I brought back last time. I will be looking at surrounding cities though, because it was mostly retired people at the last one.

So these are my recent efforts to get a life. I'm setting a good example for the girls to about the importance of friendship and being a well-rounded person. My parenting skills are enhanced when I'm nuturing the woman within me as well as the mom. And I'm reminding myself that I deserve some fun too. Get out there, because so do you!
